Mum dying of cancer support

Hi,

I've recently found out my mum is dying of metastatic cancer, and only has a life expectancy of 18-24 months. She's been my life for the past 30 years and the news has devastated our family.

I live about 2 hours away with my partner, with my mum, step dad and older brother who has learning difficulties living at home together. My mum is the glue that holds us altogether, particularly between my step dad and my brother who sometimes just don't understand each other.

I'll be devastated when my mum passes away - I really don't know what I'm going go do without her - but I'm more worried about how my brother and step dad are going to be in the house together. Does anyone know of any resources or anything I can use for help? I want to talk to someone but don't know where to go.

  • Hello Chris

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. It's obviously a very difficult time for you and it's understandable that you're worried about your family as well as losing your Mum.

I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call to talk things through with them. I'm sure that they will be able to give you some advice and information about possible support options for your Dad as well as offering you some support. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
