Just diagnosed with Cancer

I'm 40 year old male, I'm not overweight I don't smoke drink but today my GP phoned me to say I have colon cancer and it has spread to my liver. Gob smaked to say the least, I thought it might be a hernia or trapped wind. I have no other symptoms just a dull ache in my stomach, I haven't had any blood tests yet  or biopsy just results from a ct scan.

thanks

Neil

  • Hi Neil,

it is hard to accept I also had  a healthy life, am fit, don't drink much...

you wonder why me? I am starting chemo on Thursday with injections through a Piccline, and am frightened of the side effects which could be for life.
Sorry , I cannot find anything to say to comfort you, but I want you to know that you are not alone and if you feel like talking or sharing your anxiety, we are here for you. Take care, it's going to be a long and painful journey but we'll get there. Big hug .

  • Hi Neil,

Sorry to hear you sad news. I to was fit and healthy up to 7 years ago when out of the blue I was diagnosed with prostate cancer no symptoms at all just a routine check by my doctor. 4 years later (2017)  after treatment I was given the all clear only to be told on the same day that I had skin cancer. After surgery to remove the tumour and regular check ups I was given the all clear three years later. March 2021 I was diagnosed with stage 2 bladder cancer and have recently had surgery to remove a tumour from my bladder. I know the bad news is devastating but try to stay positive and fight hard. Sending you my best wishes. Gary

  • Thanks Gary, sounds like you've been through it all but you do give me hope.
