Nipple pain

Hello, I've been having a burning stinging pain on my left nipple that keeps coming back. It feels like a lump forming when it returns and it stings a lot or a burning feeling. I've had inverted nipples all my life and now my left one isn't. My GP referred me to the breast clinic where I had an ultrasound which didn't show a lump just some thickening which they said I should keep an eye on. I've had two lots of antibiotics now which works but unfortunately it keeps coming back. I am 36 years old and really need to find a solution to this and wondering if anyone had something similar. Thanks

  • Hi Jo jo

I've had something similar but more of an itching prickly feeling in my left nipple ( also always been inverted) I had cream from the doctor then an anxious visit to the breast clinic after doctor found a lump. I was told I had thickening of breast tissue also and they put the itching down to hormones. I'm not sure what to do next other than put up with it or get my hormones levels checked ( I think I am perimenopausal).

  • Hi Lou, I feel the same really. When I first had it I was very itchy and only had a large oval lump the first time which felt like a blocked duct and disappeared as quick as it came. This time it came back quickly and really feeling a burning pinch now. I've messaged the GP for a consult, hopefully they can offer an aternative to antibiotics. Thanks for messaging

    Hi JoJo,

I just want to reassure you that breast caner is seldom accompanied by pain, so it sounds as if your ultrasound is correct. The thickening may never change or it could become cancerous later on, hence the need to keep an eye on it.

It is certainly worth keeping in touch with your GP until they can get this healed up once and for all.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
