HPV and low grade dyskariosis

Hi all,

Received my results today to be informed I have a positive result and low grade dyskaryosis and in need of a colposcopy.

Needless to say I been thinking the worst ever since and despite reading the leaflet a million times over and fully understand that it's probably nothing to worry about,  I cannot sleep. Your mind can take you to some dark places and punishes you before you even have the facts.

Reading everyone's posts and the nurse's replies have been so helpful. I've had a good cry and hopefully will be able to get some sleep. Thank you so much for this forum.

Best wishes to all with their appointments. Georgie x

  • Hi, sorry to hear your news, I'm in a sort of similar way. I tested positive for the HPV virus in September and was told I'd be having another smear in September - since then I developed the joy of occasionally spotting when going for a number 2, having days worth of pain in my pelvic area - luckily it wears off after a few days. I went back to my GP this week and she did an examination and said she can see something that could be polyp but she's not sure, so she is expediting my September smear and contacting gynae to either do another smear or straight to colposcopy.
like you I also googled (really shouldn't have)

if it helps though I had precancerous cells when I was 19 so I can say that they tend to get you seen and treated within  a reasonable time frame.

    good luck x

  • Hi, I also had this letter recently and like you I cried and then started getting pelvic pain and spotting so freaking out a bit more. I've had my colposcopy and biopsy which didn't hurt at all.  I do need to have the lletz treatment to remove cells but from what I've read on here a lot of low grade changes either get better on their own or don't need treatment.  Let me know how you get on.
