2 Breast Lumps

Hi Everyone

I am 33 and have recently been seen by the dr for what I thought was a hard to find breast lump but she found it straight away. I have been referred to the breast clinic and my appt is 28th. I have since found a secondary lump. I did have one last year but the breast clinic was very quick and at first examined the wrong side and then said they couldn't find anything and it was said it was a cyst. I wasn't worried about my new lump at first but since I have found the second one in the same breast I am feeling a little nervous.

Not sure what to expect at my appt with 2 lumps to be looked at.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Hi Lucy,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about your symptoms, but you are doing the right thing in getting these investigated.

It is just as easy to look at the 2 lumps as it is with 1. You will probably have a chat with your consultant about your symptoms and then undergo a physical examination of both breasts. You will probably then be sent for an ultrasound and maybe a biopsy. The ultrasound will see the tissues in the breast and should identify any lumps and the biopsy will identify any cancer type and grade. It usually takes 1-2 weeks to get these results through.

In older ladies, they may also get a mammogram, but this isn't always used with people of your age, as younger breast tissue is more dense and difficult to see through. There are a number of different reasons for breast lumps and not all are cancerous, eg cysts.

I sincerely hope that all goes well for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
