Swollen lymph nodes

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. The other day I noticed I have a swollen gland on the right side about two fingers width above my collarbone, I panicked because I'm a serial worrier but I was calmed down by my parents who said its probably just that I've had an infection and it will go down in a few days. Yesterday I noticed that the gland on the back of my neck just below my hair was swollen as well (this is reoccurring though in this particular gland it has been for ages).

I don't feel ill, however over the past week I've had an uncomfortable (not sore) stomach and constipation. I figured it was just ibs since it runs in my family.

I'm a generally healthy 20 year old female. The glands are tender, soft and move around. I would usually leave it a week however, I googled (I know big mistake) and the NHS website said to always go to the GP for a swollen gland above collarbone. Is this correct? Do I need to go to the doctors on Monday? If anyone can put my mind at rest I'd be so grateful

  • Hello KatieRK123,

Welcome to our forum! You're right googling never leads to anything other than further worry but we are all guilty of doing it. The NHS website is a reliable resource though so the best way to put your mind at rest is to go and see a doctor. Your GP will be in the best position to tell you what it might be so do give them a call tomorrow and see if you can get an appointment sorted.

I hope you get to talk to a doctor soon and that you find the reassurance you need.

    Best wishes,
