So scared

Hi all, I'm such a panicker since losing my mam to cancer and can't think of anything else when I find something new,

recently been to my ent specialist about on going sinus problems had a camera down my nose and back of throat which he said was all fine so I'm next having a ct scan on sinuses, I forgot to mention to him it I have felt a hard pea sized lump in the left of my throat I'm not sure if it is my tonsil or not, I have had it for about 3 weeks and I'm so scary it's cancer, has anyone else had something similar to ease my mind?

  • Hello Jessie81,

I am so sorry you lost your mam to cancer and it's completely understandable that this has scarred you and left you really scared whenever you have health worries of your own. Do talk to your doctor though about this anxiety. I am sure they will have some good advice for you to help you feel less anxious.

I hope that the CT scan will shed some light on what is causing your sinus problems. It's reassuring that the camera down your nose and back of your throat didn't flag anything suspicious. Perhaps when you have your CT scan, if you happen to see the specialist then you could bring up this hard pea-sized lump you have felt. Do mention that you have had it for 3 weeks. If you don't happen to see the specialist when you are next in hospital for your scan, perhaps you could try and talk to your GP about it so they can let the specialist know or advise you on the best way to give them all the information they need ahead of your diagnosis. You could also try and talk to the ENT specialist's secretary about this. It is important to mention it though so that they have a full picture of what is going on.

I hope that you will also meet others here who have had something similar and that they will share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,
