Stoma reversal

Hi I'm new to the forum.

I had my ileostomy reversed a week ago.

I had bowel cancer nearly 4 years ago. I am all clear now. Thankfully.

the last hurdle was the ileostomy reversal.

I'm hoping I could get some feed back if needed.

the reversal went fine, just wondering about what sort of food to introduce at first. I had a very big bowel movement on Tuesday night. Nothing since is that normal. Thankyou.

  • Hi Nightsky and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm really pleased you've been all clear for 4 years and it's great that you've been able to have your ileostomy reversed.

It may take some time for your body to adjust to the changes that are now taking place but hopefully some of our members who have been on this journey will share their experiences and advice with you soon.

This downloadable booklet on the Bowel Cancer UK website gives advice on how to manage the side effects that may occur afterwards but if you'd like to discuss this with our team of cancer nurses they'll be available from Tuesday onwards on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Do be sure to get in touch with your stoma nurse or your doctor about your concerns as well.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
