Multiple moles scabbing, bleeding & disappearing

Should I be worried? In the autumn of last year I had a mole on my face that started to crust and bleed. I had a telephone call with the nurse practitioner and she looked at some photos I sent in, I wasn't referred anywhere as she said she thought it was all okay from the photos I sent in,

A few months later, In December 2020 I then had three small moles on my arm all at the same time begin to raise, scab and then drop off, with one of them coming back the same as before but the others seem to have disappeared.

Friday I had five moles on my stomach/ some under my bra line get red and start to bleed and then scab the same as the arm. They went red and are now pink, sore and have felt itchy/prickly.

I saw my GP yesterday in person and she has referred me to get them properly checked out and had taken proper images of the pink ones to send with my referral. along with a mole on my lower stomach that is different shades with uneven edges.

Along with these changes to the moles, I have been getting some aches and pains in lymph area of my groin and under arms but have no swelling and I discussed this pain with the doctor last month (before the stomach moles changed). They carried out blood tests and the blood count was all fine but my vitamin D was really low which I've now stared a prescription for.

I know I need to wait to hear what the specialists think but not sure how long that will be so just wanted to hear if anyone had had similar and all was okay?

thank you x

  • Hi,

It's good that your GP has referred you for a dermatologist to examine your moles. It will depend what type of referral has been made as to how long you will wait for an appointment. If it's an urgent referral you will hear from the hospital within 2 weeks - if it's non urgent it can take anything up to 3 months.

I wouldn't worry too much about the discomfort in your nodal areas. Cancerous nodes don't hurt but do swell so it sounds like yours are fine. If they are still tender point it out at your dermatology appointment and they will check them for you. You have a 75% chance that your moles are fine so try not to worry. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

  • Angie,

Thank you for reading my post and taking the time to reply, it really is appreciated so thank you.

I will let you know once I have seen the dermatologist.

    thank you again x

  • Had my hospital appointment today. I'm going back to have an atypical mole/ Dysplastic Nevus removed in the next few weeks. Not sure what happens from there.
