Hodgkin lymphoma

Hi there

I was wondering if anyone could give me their thoughts.

Ive had itchy skin for close to 10 years now and occasionally it can be in dry, red, scaly patches. This is usually on my neck, shoulders and back and sometimes scalp. It also felt tight and worse after a hot shower/Bath. I initially went to the DR who gave me an emollient and a steroid cream that worked great. I then realised I could buy this steroid cream over the counter, which I did. However, I think over the years I've developed an immunity to it, as recently the cream hasn't been working.

I contacted my DR again who gave me new cream and again it worked wonders. I'm currently not really having any issues with my back/shoulder/neck and the scaly patches have cleared. The only other issue is my scalp, as I can't get the cream in their due to my hair. I've itched it so much that it stings and sometimes bleeds. I've since noticed a swollen occipital lymph node on my left, and I panicked after doing a quick google. Itchy skin and lymph nodes = cancer .
I've asked my dr again via econsult this morning and I'll wait to hear from them, but is it likely the node is just swollen due to the irritation on my scalp?
Surely after around 10 years of itching something else would've developed/I'd be feeling ill? I feel totally fine, have a great appetite and I'm really active.

  • Hello Vanessa and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately these are questions we can't really answer but it's good you've got back in touch with your doctor about this and hopefully it won't be long until you can get their thoughts on this.

We'll have our fingers crossed this continues to be no cause for concern and you can get some peace of mind over this soon.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi did you ever get a answer for this? I have the same itchy skin and scalp for years and now have a neck lump which I’ve had for months that I’ve noticed! Thanks
