Symptoms preceding diagnosis

I have been ill for 8 months with no diagnosis other than a veiled warning from my gp that this might be "something brewing"!  I collapsed with cramps all over, and have had repeated episodes where my left arm and face seize up, went to a and e by ambulance as looked like a stroke but nothing found. Had brain and spine mri, angiogram, nerve conduction tests, blood tests. All that has shown is severe vitamin deficiencies so it looks like I am not absorbing well, a declining thyroid still in normal range,  and persistent muscle weakness and pain, particularly in my left arm. I have googled endlessay, found all manner of interesting conditions! I'm tired of looking now, I am having some GI tests and they want me to have a lumbar puncture but would prefer not till last resort.
I wondered if anyone else had had peculiar symptoms that eventually lead to a diagnosis, not necessarily cancer, but that's what my gp is suggesting. I have severe fatigue, minor bruising, the weird arm thing, frequent cramps, get feverish for brief periods daily and have had to stop work as I just fall asleep if I do anything taxing.
thanls for reading, I should emphasise I am not fretting about imaginary illnesses, just very bored with these symptoms and I can't imagine I am the only person who ever had them yet all the medics scratch their heads over me.
