My husband has terminal cancer

My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the oesophagus and liver about six weeks ago. He is due to start nine weeks of two sorts of chemotherapy after Easter.  He seems to have accepted it but I cannot accept this terrible situation and cannot stop crying.   He was offered immunotherapy as well as chemotherapy but the side affects were just horrendous. How do I cope

  • Hi Welshgran,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm so sorry to hear of what you are currently going through - I can only imagine how difficult this must be.

Firstly, try to keep speaking to others where possible - friends and family. Also Macmillan and Maggie's both have a number of resources and offer good support if you feel you need more professional help.

And of course we're always here for support on this forum. There will be others here who are going through, or have been through, something similar. Do have a browse or search of the forum if you don't receive further replies to your post here.

It often helps a little simply to write things down so I hope the forum can act as some small support for you.

It is cliched but take things a day, or an hour, at a time, and remember to keep looking after yourself too.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
