Unsuccessful smears

I've been through two unsuccessful smears by 2 different GP's about a year and a half ago as they couldn't find my cervix. They told me to make another appointment but I was too embarrassed and really didn't want to go through that again. I've read this can happen if you're tall but I'm only 5.4 but I am really heavy so think this may be the problem. I was putting it off then lockdown and my GP practically closed down. Trouble is I'm getting erratic light bleeding and pain and don't know where to turn but I am worried.

  • Hi Mumof2girls,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the difficulties you've been having with this. The only thing to really do is to make an appointment with your doctor. GPs have still been seeing patients - if you give your surgery a call it may be the case that you have a phone appointment initially, and then the doctor will ask to see you if necessary. This is the only way to get any answers so do give them a call when you can.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
