Awaiting breast biopsy results

Hello,

I haven't ever posted on any kind of group chat or forum before, but I am awaiting the results of a core biopsy (I find out Monday) and today for some reason I just feel totally overwhelmed and frightened about it. Thjs has happened at a difficult time for me anyway as my relationship with my fiancé is on the brink of ending and I think the thought of something being wrong with my health just feels unmanageable. I have been told I will receive a call on Monday between 10-5 to tell me the results and talk through next steps. They said in my original appointment that it could be a fibroadenoma but needed to biopsy to check for cancer cells. if anyone has been in this situation I would be grateful of any advice as I feel very scared.

thank you,

Emma x

  • Hi Emma,

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a tough time of it all.

I had the same thing a few years back, so I know the anxiety levels will be through the roof. The consultant I saw actually said he "didn't like the look" of my lump whilst he was taking the biopsy! Needless to say, I fell apart once I left his room. It was a long week to wait, but it did turn out to be a fibroadenoma.

It sounds as if your breast clinic are crossing all the T's and dotting the I's to make doubly sure they're not missing anything, which is a good thing. Them telling you that they think it's a fibroadenoma, is a promising sign too. They must see this a lot.

I know it's a tough ask, but try not to worry too much. I'm having a scan on a neck lump in 2 weeks, so I know how you feel. I think it's tougher because we're still in lockdown and have way too much time on our hands to think about things!

Good luck, I'll be sending positive vibes to you. Let us know how you get on.

    Take care. Xx

  • Thanks so much - unfortunately it has turned out to be triple negative breast cancer which was a bit of a shock but they have caught it super early and my treatment is starting very quickly, so crossing fingers I will be ok!

  • Hi Emma,

I'm so sorry to hear that, it must've been a real shock. I was only thinking about you today too.

I'm glad they've caught it early and your treatment is starting soon.

I'm wishing you all the very best. Stay positive and keep healthy.

    Tonie. X
