Help I’m so scared for my tonsillectomy!!

Hi everyone

I'm new to this so I just wanted honest advice and others experience in this too.

January time I started suffering with my tonsils and noticed one bigger than the other , I was given a week antibiotics that did not clear it so then given more antibiotics for a week which did not clear it again.
I was then given an appointment for the ear nose and throat department and had the small camera down my nose and told that they would remove the lump to test it and then while they do that I will also have my tonsils removed .

I have now got my appointment for 23rd April and I'm so scared I have so many questions .
so if anyone had been through similar or same situation I'd love to hear your stories.
thank you xx

  • Hello Neeta_s,

A big welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand why you are feeling nervous about this procedure and you've come to the right place to talk to others who have had this procedure before and who will be able to answer your questions and share their experiences.

I had a little look around our forum and found this thread by [@cgz]‍ who was like you nervous about the surgery, recovery and the process of having to wait for the biopsy results. Don't hesitate to respond to that thread if you wish and if you type 'tonsillectomy' in our forum search function which is located on the blue banner at the top, you will be able to find other past relevant threads on the subject which you might find helpful.

I hope your surgery goes well next month!

    Best wishes,
