ive had my mammogram today with scan and then told I needed biopsy so had that aswell, I've now got the long wait too, I'm up and down one min I think nothing to worry about then another I just sit and cry

the area where they took the biopsy from doesn't seem to be where my lump was either and it's sore

I'm glad to hear that you have had all these tests carried out today. As I said to Laura (above), the way you are feeling is perfectly normal unfortunately. Have you been told how soon your results will take to return? The wait can seem endless. Try to keep yourself preoccupied with some pastime. - the busier you are the quicker the time tends to pass. 

Don't worry about where they took the biopsy from. It can be difficult to judge where the lump is just by feel. They can see your lump on the ultrasound and this guides them to exactly where it is, so it should be in the right place. 

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years and a number of false alarms. In all cases my breast was a little sore for a while after I had my biopsies. Whatever you do, steer clear of consulting 'Dr Google', as this will only scare you further for no valid reason.

Of all the people who attend the breast clinic, only 1 person in 8 will receive a cancer diagnosis, so I am hoping that this is something less serious.

The waiting is awful, isn't it? I still haven't heard anything and I keep thinking,  the longer it takes, the more likely it is to be bad news. I know it's silly, but I can't help it. I suppose we just need to stay calm and hope for the best.

Hi all. I gave in and rang the hospital today. My lump is highly likely to be a fibroadenoma but I have to go back and have a biopsy done on a second lump under my nipple. I know i should feel relief, but it feels like 1 step forward and 1 back. I can't help wondering why they didn't biopsy both lumps at the same time, if they were concerned.  Am I just being paranoid, or are they just taking extra precautions?...

I can empathise with you.  I had a CT guided biopsy on my lung on Friday but I've to go for my results on Wednesday.   I think it's just human nature to have our emotions all over the place just now, don't hold them back.

I hope for a positive outcome for all of us.
