Large lump

Hi I am new to this, never posted on a forum before. I am 42 years old and have quite a large lump in my left breast. I had a small lump in a different area of the same breast about 11years ago, went to my gp who referred me to the breast clinic. I was so upset and disgusted by the way I was treated that I don't know if I should go see a gp about this one? Has anyone any advice on this please?x

    Hi Sarai,

    A very warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and how you were treated at the breast clinic. This is unusual, most care teams are very understanding and sympathetic. Despite this, you should certainly contact your GP as soon as you can. You may find that you have to have a telephone consultation at first, but your GP can still see you if s/he deems it necessary.

    I have had an appointment with my gp this morning. She has referred me to the breast clinic.

    Hi

    You need to go see your GP ASAP to be examined & referred to breast clinic.  The lump may be just a cyst, but it could be cancer.  The only way to find out is to see health professionals.  Don't let one bad experience put you off.  If it is cancer, the quicker it is dealt with, the better your chances xx

    Hi Sarai,

    I am glad to hear that you picked up the courage to see your GP and that you have been referred to the breast clinic. I sincerely hope that your treatment at the clinic will be better this time than it was last. It usually takes about 2 weeks to get an appointment through.

    Please let us know when you get your appointment through and how you get on. Getting the necessary tests is the only way to set your mind to rest.
