My colonoscopy experience

Hey guys,

Hope you're okay? I just wanted to scare my colonoscopy experience with you. I'm 27 and my symptoms have been worrying. A lot of blood in poo, mucus in poo and stomach pains. When I googled the symptoms straight away, it said cancer - luckily it's not. I do have inflammation down there which they will be treating me for but just wanted to put people's minds at ease in case they have similar symptoms. Blood in poo does not always mean cancer.

I started using the laxitives the day before (gosh they taste horrible) when I got to the hospital on the day, everyone was really lovely and friendly. Had my blood pressure taken and had sedative put in me. It made me drowsy but I was still very much awake and I saw everything on the screen. They actually wanted me to look at the screen to see what the inflammation looked like and that really helped.

After the procedure I was given tea and biscuits and they tasted so good. The prep was much worse than the procedure for me. So please if you do have the symptoms I had - do not worry, it does not mean you have cancer!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your experience William982! It will be so reassuring to others to read your story as they are also about to have their colonoscopy. It's so nice to hear positive experiences and results like yours. We're so happy for you that it was nothing to worry about in the end.

The tea and biscuits, such a nice post-colonoscopy tradition, isn't it? I bet they tasted amazing after going through this procedure.
