Breast infections

Hi, I am 19 years old. I previously had a breast infection in both breasts. I believe it's due to me having cracked nipples. Recently it has come back but is more swollen and painful on my left side rather then my actual breast. Both my nipples are red around them and my left breast is swollen too. I have also felt achy around my shoulder and arm. But the last couple of days I have been experiencing mild pins and needles in my left arm. I don't know if it's anything to worry about, or whether it's a symptom of the infection or something else?

  • Hello Lob435,

If you're worried about these pins and needles in your left arm and given that your breast infection has come back, it might be worth giving your doctor a call so that they can have a look. Do mention that you have also felt achy around your shoulder and arm. Give them as much detail as possible about every single symptom and they will be able to tell you I am sure whether it is a symptom of the infection or if it is unrelated and is something else. Either way, it's important to talk about it with a medical expert so do give your GP a call when you can.

I hope this gets sorted soon as it must be rather painful for you.

    Best wishes,
