About to start Chemo for Breast Cancer. Worried & stressed

I would just like to say hi and talk to others who can tell me there experience and can help each other. I have Breast cancer. I had lump removed and then on 24th Feb had to back to have lymph nodes removed as first operation showed cancer in one of lymph nodes. Fortunately lymph nodes clear but feel still in pain and getting myself in a state about Chemo starting soon. Try to stay positive but find myself crying and worrying. Think the worst that it's spread.

  • Hi Notacnarf,

I just wanted to send you a reply as it will boost your post so more people will see it, and hopefully you'll then receive further replies from anyone else in a similar situation. There will be many others here who have been through or are going through something similar - do also have a browse of the forum and other discussions if it helps.

We're always here for support if you need it.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi [@Notacnarf]‍

Thanks for reaching out and saying hi. I am also newly diagnosed and looking for support. So far, I have been really grateful for the comments on this forum and have also found great comfort in trying to support others. It's all be new me but we're in the same boat so makes sense to help each other through.

I will be having a mastectomy next month and then starting chemo after recovery. They've told me that will be 4-6 months. Tomorrow I am back at the hospital to sign the consent forms for the surgery.

Do you have a date for your chemo to start? It is so hard to stay positive, I can completely resonate with you there. But I do believe they would only recommend it if they were sure it was the best course of action. So although it will be difficult to endure, please try to focus beyond the treatment. We will get through it and will have lots to look forward to afterwards.

Sending you my thoughts and well wishes.

  • Hi Hettie Thankyou for your kind words. I have got appointment today on video call to discuss Chemo. So maybe will get a date soon and get some answers. I hope your Operation goes well.  I had lump removed and that was not too bad but then had to have lymph nodes cleared under left arm. That was on24th of Feb. I am here if want to talk at all.  I know the waiting and not knowing is hardest part.  Fran x
