Bowel polyp worry

I may well be worrying too much but being a single mother to 2 boys I need to think ahead. I've had the year from hell, a baby 3 months premature, followed immediately by not being able to go to toilet for 30 days. Ever since I've had chronic constipation, even though I'm taking several medications. I had a bowel resection in august last year, as they claimed I had a section of redundant bowel and my bowel was elongated and looped back on itself, so they removed a foot of bowel. That didn't stop my problems and more recently I've had blood when going to toilet and sometimes even just when going for a wee as well as lots of mucus. Today I was sent for a sigmoidoscopy and they found a polyp which they removed. My question is has anyone got any advice or has anyone been through this? Anything would be gratefully received.

  • Hello CSimps

I'm sorry to hear about all that you've been through over the past year. You really have been through the mill. I hope that your little one has made good progress and that despite all you've been through that you've been able to enjoy some time together.

It's reassuring to hear that the hospital is still investigating your symptoms although it's understandable that you're feeling anxious and frustrated that things haven't been resolved. Hopefully, this latest investigation will bring some answers to help the Consultants move forward with a new treatment plan.

If you'd like to speak to one of our nurses about your concerns you're welcome to call them. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
