Night sweat and itching

Hi all.

im a 32 year old mum of 3 boys. I lost my husband over a year ago to his own issues.
I actually work for a breast cancer consultant and have an amazing relationship with him but I'm actually too scared to ask him questions about my own issues.

I workout 5am every morning, but since end of December I started to get night sweats where I'd wake up quite sweaty and wet.
I put it down to a new thicker mattress and duvet.
I then moved in with my parents. I still get night sweats. Not every night maybe once or twice a week. I then developed itching of the lower legs. I'm trying to tell myself it's the change in climate as my parents house seems "dry" as my house suffered with damp everywhere or is it that I use a salicylic acid body wash for my upper body due to bad skin. Maybe it's running down my body and drying my legs out.

obviously google search helps with anxiety and suggests lymphoma. And now it has me worrying more

    Hi Milward,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband.  As I'm sure you know yourself, you should start asking questions without delay. I must state that I am not a doctor. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years and am currently having investigation for a third. The changes that you are experiencing could well be to do with the change in climate at your parents house, or your body wash, but I wouldn't leave it to chance.

The worst thing you can do, as you've discovered, is to consult 'Dr Google' - he'll have you dead and buried with the most minor of injuries. If you don't want to speak to the consultant you work with, have a word with your GP. However, it sounds as if you might be in the perfect situation to be seen by someone you have faith in and, without delay. You've no idea how much all of us on here would like that luxury - waiting for appointments and results is one of the scariest times of our cancer journeys and, anything to cut down on such delays would be a blessing.

I am sure that you are worrying yourself sick. Why not ask the questions and ease your mind? I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine,

thank you for taking the time to reply.
I'm sorry to hear about your journey with breast cancer. I hope your investigations come back clear. You definitely are one strong woman.
I, myself tell people to never listen to google yet find myself searching on there anyway.
im definitely fortunate enough to work with a consultant in the cancer field. Knowing currently with covid the waiting times for suspected cancer is 8 weeks to be seen. Some people would do anything to be in the position I am and be able to have that informal discussion with their boss.
I will definitely speak to either my consultant or my go on Monday. Even if it's just to put my mind at ease.
I hope it is down to the climate control here and the change in things. I'll also start using a better moisturiser in the meantime to rule out the dry skin.

I hope everything goes okay for your investigations. Take care and thank you for your response

    Xx
