Diagnosis before biopsy results

I found a lump in my left breast, week gone Wednesday.  I had my appointment at the breast clinic on Wednesday , I had mammogram and ultrasound.  During the ultrasound they also discovered abnormal lymph nodes under my left armpit and during the examination clip markers were inserted.

Not once did I think that I would be told on that day without the results of the biopsy that it's almost certain  I have breast cancer. I have an appointment on Thursday to meet the consultant and discuss surgery and treatment options.

Is it common for the radiologist to notice straight away that it's more likely to be cancer than not? And if the can tell just by a scan does that mean it's more serious?

I was on my own when the breast nurse delivered the news and dont know if I took everything in. My mind is now working overtime thinking of lots of different outcomes and I'm scared. The last 2 days have been the longest and I have 6 more to go before the results.

Has anyone else been through this experience and have any advice?

  • My radiologist told me the same day 2 weeks ago before the result of biopsy that it is cancer 2nd time. But it does nt mean it is an advanced stage.Just keep yourself busy as much as you can so you cannot think much about it.I know it is not an easy thing to do.
