Lump in Breast - Waiting for Diagnosis

Good morning all

im Soph, 31 year old mum of 2 from Nottinghamshire

I found a hard (approx 2x2cm) lump in my right breast over a week ago and have a telephone appointment with a breast doctor on Tuesday.

I had blood tests yesterday to look at my calcium levels, liver and kidney function.

I'm pretty worried but know it could just be a fibrodenoma.

Anyone in a similar position?

  • Hi,

I found a similar lump about 8 weeks ago. I had a phone consultation with my GP and was referred to a breast clinic and two weeks later i had my appointment. This was earlier today.

They did an ultrasound, a mammogram and a core needle biopsy when they also placed a titanium marker for future mammograms. Then I had another mammogram to check it's position.

I've got a ten day wait for results and the Dr was open, saying he didn't know what he was dealing with.

Just to allay any fears if you need similar appointments because I was terrified. My mammogram wasn't painful at all (first time having one) and the biopsy under local anesthetic also was painless.

I think the worst thing is the waiting but there are many things it could be other than something nasty.

    Good luck to you xx

  • Thank you for replying to me :)

I have a telephone appointment on Tuesday with a breast doctor who will then decide if I need to be seen face to face (which I will be pushing for)

wow a 10 day wait is long! Please update me how it goes. Wishing you all the best xx

  • I discovered a hard lump in my right breast on 16th February, my GP seen me face to face for physical exam on 17th February, confirmed def a lump and referred me to breast clinic. I have now been waiting a month and when I called today was advised I am 'on waiting list': I understand the pandemic has created delays and demand but the more time goes on the more stressed I feel.

I dont know whether not knowing is worse
