Hi Debbietimtom,
A very warm welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry to hear why you've joined us. It is unfortunate that you've had a chronic cough for so long, but I'm pretty sure that your stitches should be fine.
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years and have had a lumpectomy, followed by a double mastectomy a year later. My scars were stitched up with all the expertise I would have expected of an experienced needlewoman and, there was no fear of them drifting apart.
Mention your fears to your surgeon before the op and, s/he will take extra care to ensure that there is no fear of any burst stitches.
Please keep in touch and let us know when you get the date for your operation. you will feel so much better once you get this behind you. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Thanks for replying. Its been weighing heavily on me with my cough. Had 2 biopsies done now so will find out results next Wednesday what the 2nd biopsy is then hopefully a date for the op. Have already started me on tamoxifen. Such a worrying process from the start. X
Hi Debbietimtom,
With everything happening so quickly this is always a worrying time. I am glad to hear that you have a date to get your results. It is always more upsetting when you need additional scans or biopsies, but it is important to get a proper diagnosis and, this can be the only way to find out, if your initial tests are not clear. It's good that you have already started on Tamoxifen and, I trust that you are coping with this.
Here's hoping that your results are as good as they can be and, that you don't have to wait too long for your operation. Don't forget to mention your cough to your consultant and your concerns about surgery.
Please let us know how you get on.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Thanks for your kind words. I have had cysts over the last three years with mammograms and ultrasounds. One each year. So this year found another lump felt exactly like the one I had drained last year. This time took extra mammogram and biopsy and said it was Estrogen+ cancer then sent me for an mri. So that came back with another point of concern above.my nipple which is where my first cyst still is. Thats the second biopsy part thst I will.be waiting to see if that is cancer or not. I will definitely mention my cough to them when I see them on Wednesday. No side effects so far on tamoxifen but only 6 days in so early days. Will keep you posted and thanks.
