Lump biopsy using mammogram

Hi. I've just had a lump and enlarged lymph node found. Results on 11 March. Would love some advice about how to calm myself.

I've had an ultrasound biopsy for a lymph node. Tomorrow I have a lump biopsy. I was told they would be using a mammogram to do it but I would be sitting.

I found the mammogram so uncomfortable yesterday. With the biopsy, will it be equally as uncomfortable. Do you have to stay in the same position for a long time. Very nervous.

  • Hello Dawn70 and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that they found a lump and enlarged lymph node that requires further investigation and I can understand why this may be stressing you out.

You didn't mention the time of your appointment for the biopsy but in case that you're still waiting, I wanted to leave you with this page from our website with information on what happens on the day of your biopsy, to read more, please click here.

I hope all goes well for you, Dawn70 and once you know more, please come back to give us an update.

    With best wishes,

  • Many thanks Renata. I've had the biopsy. Staff were lovely.

    Hi Dawn,

I am glad to hear that you found the staff lovely today and I hope that your biopsy wasn't as painful as  it was yesterday. This is always an anxious wait. Try to keep yourself busy. Have you got a pastime that you can lose yourself in? If not try to do a jigsaw, or something that will help to take your mind off the wait. Also, whatever you do, steer clear of the internet, as this will only scare you further.

Please let us know how your results go. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you for your message Jolamine. I've tried to keep busy today: you're right, it does help.
