Sore throat for months

I have had a red raw throat for over a month (9th January) now. At the start I noticed white spots and immediately rang the doctors and they prescribed me tonsillitis prescriptions and difflam spray but nothing worked. Slight lumps are raised at the back of my tongue as well as a lump on the right side of my neck. I have been in and out of the doctors and i believe the doctors have given me the wrong antibiotics throughout this whole process. Ive even taken blood tests and swabs for glandular fever and all came back negative (although they told me i have low white blood cells). This whole experience has been painless and I have no other fever symptoms. The doctors have made it final to let me go to recover on my own and said i will recover but nothing is improving. I know something unusual is wrong with me as a regular sore throat shouldn’t take this long to heal. I am reaching out for advice and I am hoping i can get this all sorted and recover soon.

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your throat for months, that must be very uncomfortable but I'm glad that your test results came back negative.

If your situation doesn't improve, perhaps it might be a good idea to phone your GP and mention you're not getting better.

Also, our team of nurses are available if you want to give them a ring and ask any question you may have. You can reach them on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
