Phone call for results?

Hi all. My mum has had a series of tests over the past week after 'changes' were observed on her most recent CT scan (still on the books for lung nodules after bladder cancer 5 years + ago) - PET scan last week, lung function test on Friday.

Just had a call to say she has a phone consult on Friday, call was made by 'a secretary from the respiratory team' (according to my mum), she's no idea who will be present or even who it's with. She's been asked to have someone present at home for the call.

Would they impart bad news over the phone? Would everything have gone through the MDT already (I know this team meat twice a week, pre-covid at least)? Is this another effect of covid - that understandably they'd rather fewer non-critical bodies in hospital at the moment?

Grasping for (positive) straws, so scared this is going to be bad news

Thanks x

  • Hello again StrongerthanIthought.

Quite a few of our members have been receiving results over the phone recently, and as you pointed out this is due to the pandemic so try not to overthink this if you can. I know that is much easier said than done when waiting for results but Friday is almost here and you'll finally find out what's going on.

Wishing you and your mum all the best for tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Strongerthanithought,

I am sorry to hear that your Mum has had this anxious wait and hope that there is nothing untoward found with her CT scan.

As Steph says, it's a difficult one to call at the moment.

Please let us know how you both get on and remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
