Itchy nipple and lump in armpit

Evening,

I'm new to this forum and wanted to get a bit of advice please.

I started having an itchy nipple around 6 weeks ago. I visited my GP and was prescribed an anti fungal cream which I used for a few weeks. Unfortunately it didn't help and so I was referred to the breast clinic. My GP said they wouldn't typically refer me for an itchy nipple but im awaiting the results from a BRCA 1 mutation test as i runs in my family. I have a slight dryness to the top of my atrial but it doesn't look different to my other breast. I've had shooting pains in my breast but put it down to hormones and my period (I'm 39). Tonight my armpit felt sore and I've found a tiny pea size lump. I can just about see it in the mirror. It's sore to touch and my armpit feels swollen

I wasn't overly worried about my appointment but now I've got this lump I'm thinking the worst.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thank you x

  • Hi CaneRc and welcome to the community.

I'm sorry for the worry this situation is causing but I'm sure some of our members who have contended with similar will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime, I just wanted to share some information I've found on what to expect at a breast clinic appointment. I hope this is able to put your mind at ease slightly but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope the results of the BRCA1 gene testing brings good news and that the results from the breast clinic will show your symptoms are not a sign of anything sinister.

    Kind regards,
