Got a quick appt - is that normal?

Hi

i found a swelling to right of my right breast, almost on my flank. Was seen by a nurse at the GPS this Monday who said it was "a wee one", moveable and painless. Due to my mother having had cancer twice she's referring me to the breast clinic at the hospital. Today I've received the appointment for the one stop appointment this Monday coming. Is it normal to get an appointment that quickly? I know about the two week turnaround but am frightened that it's come through quickly as there is something really wrong. Plus am now frightened by the whole testing process and am dreading Monday.

  • Hi

I spoke to my gp in August about a breast concern. It was a Thursday and the same afternoon the breast clinic phoned me with an appointment for the following Tuesday.

I would not read anything in the timescale. I did not even see my gp only had a phone call and she told me she wouldn't be referring me as urgent.

    Hope this helps a bit.

  • Thanks it does help.  Trying to stay level headed and calm but your mind plays some mean tricks doesn't it! Thank you x

  • I was so so scared, couldn't think of anything else.

I was seen initially by a doc, a few questions and then a quick feel. He told me he didn't think it was anything but would give me a mammogram and ultrasound anyway. I was so nervous that I even tried to say I didn't want them if he thought everything was OK.

Anyway had mammogram and ultrasound and back in to see doc and told everything OK. I was probably only there for an hour.

I was so relieved and all the staff were lovely and obviously could see how scared I was.

    Good luck

  • Thank you. Really appreciate your kind words x

  • Hello julesric,

good news= worrying about a quick appointment.

Bad news=worrying about a long overdue appointment.

Sometimes l think the human race would be less worried if they only had a choice between hopeless or disaster.,why do we try to turn positives into negatives?. l hope all your worries turn out to be good ones at your clinic appointment,
