lump breast 6 week wait need some support

Hi I'm anxious here and would love some reassurance if any don't want to talk to my partner as he's upset enough thinking the worse .
just before Xmas I found a squishy lump ON my collarbone . Seen three Drs all said lipoma or cyst . NOT node as it's on the bone itself . I finally accepted that ( have had ongoing throat problems for a year too ) anyway Thursday just gone ( 1 week ago ) I noticed a HUGE lump in my breast / very big and glandular feeling - came on period following day so didn't worry to much . However I've finished period now and lump is half the size but still there . Saw Dr today and she confirms two MOBILE lumps . Given my family history of 2 people in their 30s diagnosed recently has referred me . I'm worried as I now have a breast lump or 2 and collarbone lump ( this is the opposite side to affected breast ) Dr didn't say much just I have to wait 6 weeks here in wales for scan . Scared now it's spread as I get awful bone pains , a cough headache you name it . I seriously am terrified . I'm only 32 and three small kids . I can't stop crying every time I see their little faces . I need to get a grip I can't go on like this for another 6 weeks

  • Hello Thoms88

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently found a breast lump and that you're now waiting on an appointment. I know that many of our members here will understand how difficult this period of waiting and uncertainty can be.

Try to keep busy and remember that the majority of people who attend breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer. If it's feasible for you, then you may want to call the hospital and ask if they keep a cancellation list of people who are able to attend appointments at short notice. It may mean you're able to be seen quicker.

I'd also suggest giving our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they will be able to offer you some support and reassurance whilst you're waiting,. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hey I've been in your position twice in the past year!! I'm nearly 31 the waiting really is the worst part and I remember the feeling well. Honestly you will get through the wait because you have to! try not to panic to much until you have been seen (easier said than done I know) the fact the lump changes in size can be a positive sign I got myself into an absolute state each time going crazy with worry not sleeping not eating it doesn't do anyone any good and it won't change the outcome. The fact you feel so bad right now is probably high anxiety levels as when I noticed a lump I suddenly started feeling sick had pain in my armpit and back and that wasn't there before yet suddenly appeared it was definitely anxiety. Both times my lumps have been benign and are due to a condition called firbrcystic breasts I actually just got the all clear yesterday!! Oh and age is on your side I was told by the consultant that ny chance of having breast cancer at 30 is as low as 1% obviously it's not unheard of and there have been cases however it's rare and every case is different my mum also had cancer and I was sure that's it must be the same but it wasn't and I again was told by them it depends on the cancer itself my mums was hormonal and not genetic therefore the type she had I was told would not make me any more at risk then anyone else !! Keep your spirits up xx

  • Thanks so much this make me feel much better even just having someone listen to me moan well my mother insisted on paying private for me so I ran the clinics first to check the status and she was amazing , she said to come along a week Monday ! Can't believe how quick they have been tbh !! I just feel like I'm enjoying something for a few minutes but then my mind keeps reminding me about all the lumps and sensations around my body and then the dread sets in again I'm so glad you are ok though that's wonderful news for you xx
