Called for assessment following mammogram

I had routine mammogram 29/1. Today I received a letter asking me to attend clinic on 15/2 for further tests more mammograms ultrasound possibly biopsies. I am really anxious. I am severely disabled with multiple sclerosis and my husband has been receiving treatment for ospheogeal cancer for the past 8 months thankfully his prognosis is good. I am struggling to fear that this could be happening to me now.

Any advice gratefully received.

    Hi Bebe,

It sounds as if you are both going through an anxious time. Just because you are recalled after a routine mammogram, does not always mean that there is something sinister there. This has happened to me before and, it was only because the image they got wasn't as clear as it should have been.  I had another mammogram and was told immediately that all was clear. Whatever you do, do not look things up on the internet until you discover whether or not you need to, as this can only worry you further.

I am glad to hear that your husband's prognosis is good and hope that things begin to look up for both of you soon.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Jolamine for responding and your kind words of support. It has been such a hard year with Tony's cancer treatment and my ms that when the letter came it felt like I couldn't face anymore.

I will try to keep in mind your good advice and try not to imagine the worst but hope for the best.

I will post again after Monday to let you know how I got on.
