Ca125 elevated

Hi I'm 43 and just before Christmas I had a slightly elevated ca125 of 42, had internal ultrasound ovaries were all fine, had a repeated ca125 last week results were now 47. I'm peri menopausal and been having IBS and UTI symptoms on and off. Having an external pelvis scan next week and paid private for a colonoscopy, so should be getting that within the next 3 weeks. I've read up on ca125 and it does say some women naturally have a higher ca125 level, also it's not a good test to do on women that are peri or menopausal, is this correct? x

  • Hi Simone100,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear you've had various checks on this and it sounds as if you'll have all the information before too long.

I'm not too sure of the answer to your question - it may be best to speak to one of our nurses, who are better placed to advise. You can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5 - or alternatively you can post in the 'Ask the nurses' section of this forum.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi

I know this an old thread but did you ever get to the bottom of your elevated ca125? I'm peri menopausal too & my latest ca125 is 60! Waiting for the usual scan but same thing happened last year, my ca125 was 55 but all scans were clear.  It eventually dropped to just within normal range but now creeping back up again.

hope yours turned out to be ok!
