Fast Track referral put back.

Hi all

Just wondering if any of you could recommend some coping strategies.  I went to GP beginning of last month with a sore nipple pains in my breast and on examination she found what she described as a hard patch just below the nipple. She sent off a fast track referral saying I should be seen within two weeks. My appointment came through not within the two week but a month later. Iv just received a new appointment for 22nd of February due to unforeseen circumstances. I'm guessing Covid comes into play here.  I'm at my witts end and sick with worry. Both my husband and I have been so careful although we both still have to work to not have to isolate in order for me to make the appointment which we will obviously continue to do but I'm going out of my mind here. Any help or wise words of advice would be appreciated. I can't seem to concentrate and I keep bursting into tears.

Thank you in anticipation.

  • Hi jolamine

Yes I understand now and the consultant I spoke to was really nice. And sounds really daft but I was scared about getting this done in the mammogram machine as my boobs are tiny and I think the doctors would struggle to fit much of them in!

Hope all is well with you Jolamine you have certainly been through it xx

  •

    Hi Kelsi,

I'm so glad to hear this, as procedures are always less scary when you know what to expect and why they are being carried out.

    I'm fine thanks.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi wishing you all the best for your appointment tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you xx

  • Thank you.  How are you doing? Its cruel the waiting. Least you've a date now lets concentrate on getting  there and getting it over and done with. Im here if you need to talk. Im not sure if its possible to private message rather than post every time. Ill look into it.

    Take care. X

  • Good luck with your appointment tomorrow.

  • Yeah I was thinking that aswel, would be better to message privately.

I'm ok, had a bit of a meltdown few days ago but what can we do, just need to get on with it. Hopefully it will all be done with soon. How you feeling about your appointment? Is it biopsies etc you have to have?x

  • Oh dear im so sorry  to hear you've had a bit of a blip. To be expected really and totally understandable.  Sometimes its ok to just go with what your feeling.  To acknowledge that no your not coping and acknowledge the anxiety is ok. I guess its finding something anything that helps you get through to the next day thats all we can do.

Unsure what to expect but will update you.

Take care I think I've requested you as a friend!

    X

  • Hi kelsie

I've been reading your posts about the worries you are having about your procedure,  but can I just  say that when you have a very worrying medical problem like you have and you have a live in partner or husband, and family and friends, they are going through it too, its not just you although, I know from experience, thats how it feels.. so please don't shut them out as they love you and worry too.

I had to go back for a 2nd mammogram just after Xmas as the first one had found something on the xray. I was so worried, I've already had 2 different types of cancer, and the last thing we needed was to go through another one..  anyway, the reason I think youll be in the Xray dept  is because you will be squashed back between the plates so the nurse doing your procedure can pinpoint exactly where they need to be in the breast.  I had a second mammogram, ultrasound and then squashed, and I mean squashed, back in the plates, (possibly so I wouldn't run away,) where they needed to get the precise location for biopsies, so I imagine that's how your procedure will be done.

    I hope this helps

    Good luck,

  • Yes I've accepted your friend request, take care and hopefully tomorrow will go just fine for you x

  • Hi, yes I spoke to the consultant a few days ago so I know now what to expect . Sorry to hear you have had cancer before, hope everything is ok for you now
