Women’s periods need help!!

Hello all this is a long post,

when I was just 16 I was raped and the police suggested I went on the contraceptive  (as I had sex before that without using anything) so I went to a clinic and they suggested the coil so I had it, with this I bleed 4 months straight everyday heavy periods. I then had it removed still bleed everyday heavy, 3 months later I went on the pill to help stop it that didn't work, all in all I bleed for about 9 months with no break and heavily. I then came off everything still bleeding but I was sexually active so I went on the implant that made me bleed for a further 6 months heavy. Then my period stopped for around 3 months then when I started again I couldn't stop. I'm now 19 years old and I bleed for Atleast 3 out of 4 weeks a month and I mean heavy blood, leak through trousers Atleast twice a day. I have been sent for ultrasounds and blood tests but all come back fine. However I know I'm not fine! What should I do?

  • Welcome to the forum Kyrakey although I'm sorry about the heavy bleeding you've been contending with. It must be very frustrating, especially as the tests you've had so far have come back clear.

As this hasn't resolved itself and is still having a very big impact on your day to day life, it would be best to go back to your GP to see what options are available to you. Also, if you have more than one doctor at your surgery you could try getting a second opinion from a different doctor.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their thoughts and suggestions as well but if you'd like to have a quick chat with one of our nurses about this then do give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
