Should I be concerned - I’m trying not to panic

So I've been having pains around my chest and back for about 8 weeks now.

I've had a full general blood test, a doctor has listened to my breathing and neither found anything to be overly concerned about (slightly high alt levels but otherwise  okay).

Yesterday it felt like my pain was getting worse - basically my armpit and around my ribs feels heavily bruised and I've had no injury.

I'm worried that I'm not explaining the pain to my doctor well enough.

I asked about the possibility of it being related to a cancer - I've been getting a lot of phlegm, though mainly white and sometimes green.
The doctor said that due to my age and the fact that I don't smoke, she thinks that it's very very unlikely.

I've been booked in for a chest X-ray in a couple of weeks.

I've been able to go for a jog today which I think I did to try reassure myself that I'm 'okay', managing to do 7km with relative ease.

I haven't been massively tired and been eating just fine.

I don't know - I just wanted to put this out there is a place that others might understand my concerns and have some kind of input.

Thanks for reading.

  • Hi Adam,

Of course you will be concerned, naturally, unexplained pain can be really worrisome.

But like you say, you aren't desperately tired, and you are fit enough to run a good distance.. which are both good signs.

I hope you get the treatment you may need soon. Stay calm, stay safe. It's amazing how if you can still your mind, the body will better fight the issue. I have been helped by people on this forum, to be patient,

    Best wishes A.
