Not sure

hi

my partner was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic non small cell lung cancer with secondary brain cancer and has received radiotherapy for the brain. These ended on 23rd dec and since the trying to reduce steroids for immunotherapy to begin. She is still struggling to come down these and has no quality of life with constant flushing and fatigue. This journey is new and scary for us both and the cancer is in her lymph nodes, liver and lung though no primary site has been identified. She previously had a benign tumour in her knee which saw a knee replacement after years of struggling with this. We had no idea of the cancer until she suffered headaches over four weeks

not sure what this is about but just needed to reach out

take care and best wishes

  • Hello KeithW

I'm so sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis and how she is struggling at the moment whilst her medications are adjusted ahead of starting the next phase of treatment. It's possible that some of her symptoms are left over side effects from the radiotherapy and so hopefully they will ease.

It's obviously a difficult time for you both and it's understandable that you want to reach out and connect with others at the moment. Has your wife been allocated a clinical nurse specialist or a point of contact at the hospital that you could call to speak to about the flushing and fatigue. They may be able to offer some advice and support in managing things.

You're also most welcome to give our team of nurses a call. Often it can help to chat things through and I know that the nurses would be happy to give you some information and support. If you'd like to speak to them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that things settle and that your wife's immunotherapy goes smoothly.

    Best wishes,
