Hi, I had my first smear test yesterday.
When the nurse opened my cervix she mentioned I have a small ulcer which could be an infection. She said she wasn't concerned but wanted to let me know.
During the smear test she said I slightly bled which is normal. However there was none on my underwear and I also used a sanatory towel when I got home - no bleed only a period cramp/discomfort which is still the same today.
what will be the course of the ulcer? I am really worried and thinking the worst! I have spent the night in tears as I also googled HPV which she mentioned and it looks terrifying! I have only had one sexual partner and I am still with him.
The nurse thinks I will be referred to the woman's hospital over the ulcer/infection.
Any information would be great as I can't stop myself from crying and wanting to feel sick with fright! I don't do well with these sort of things as I always think off the worst.
The nurse said I will receive a letter with my results in a week or two however she things the woman's hospital will ring me before I receive the letter.
I get chest pains when I am worried (have done since I was a child and Gp/hospitals knows) so before I kick my chest pains off I just need some help to keep positive. I'm dreading it's the big scary C word.
