Positive FIT test, Referred to Urgent Colonoscopy.

Hi All

Long story short, i am 32, Male and i ve been having Stomach Symptoms for nearly 18 months now. Prior to this i had no issues. Initially what triggered my suspicions was one day waking up with brain fog and not able to understand what has happened to me. Then speaking to GP and doing blood tests which came back normal and some abnormal but told nothing serious.

Tests done so far

Blood tests x 5: Some had abnormalities like low B12, Vit D, Ferritin which increased with supplements and diet, liver function tests ALT AST which came back abnormal but normal after (Hepatitis came negative). Cholestrol slightly higher but falling. Celiac was negative x 2

Ultrasound abdomen: Fatty liver which could explain raised liver function

Urine tests: Normal (abnormal with dipstick)

Calprotectin: Normal

Xray abdomen 2020: abnormal due to some calcification noted in bladder possibly stones.

FIT test: 71ug Positive and urgent referral. No visible blood in poo.

I have been taking good care by doing cardio and Cycle and lose 15kg until dec 2020. But since late dec 2020 i ve left side pain in the abdomen and lower back with Diarhea And pale stools which prompted me to call doctor and the subsequent positive FIT TEST.  I have not been told its IBS either.

I came here because even though i am not scared bcz we all go one day, i just want some assurance that everything is fine and okay which i am optimistic about. I have a child due to be born in april and would love to see the little one grow. So please feel free to drop comments and lets help each other go through this tough time.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, RupzV.

First, congratulations on the baby, I'm sure this is an exicting time for you.

As for your health concerns, I think you did the right thing by initiating the process of having your symptoms investigated and I'm glad they found nothing serious so far.

Hopefully others who have been in a similar position will be here soon to share their stories with you as talkign with those who can relate does seem to help.

I hope all turns OK for you, RupzV.

    Best wishes,

    Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator
