I was diagnosed with sigmoid bowel cancer with secondary liver . After 2 bowel operations I was referred for a liver resection. I had this and then had oxyalaplatin chemo (11). Clear for a year and then secondary liver was back. Had another resection and within 3 months it was back and also in lungs. I was put on palliative care and started chemo again Irinatekin for 12 months . During this period I was positive for target chemo and started treatment whilst on the Irinatekin. Miracle news both had cleared the liver and lungs in 6 months. I felt so lucky - I'm still on classed as palliative but not end of life - maintenance. I've continued on Target Chemo for 12 months and it's controlling the return of the cancer. The consultants have asked me if I want a 3 month break from it. I'm managing ok with the treatment and concerned if I stop I'm undoing all the good work it has done. Has anyone any advise on having a break with targetvtreatment. Having gone through so much I would hate to go backwards on treatment - any advise would be appreciated
