Inflammatory Breast Cancer Fear

Hi everyone

I hope this makes sense. I'm so anxious I can hardly think straight.

I noticed a pink area on my breast 4 days ago. On close inspection it looked like tiny broken veins. It was perhaps about 2 or 3 inches across.

It's now bigger and on both breasts ( more on left side)

I've not been able to see my doctor yet but hope to tomorrow.

I don't have all the other IBC symptoms and no swelling but I read that you don't have to have them all.

I'm so terrified as I already have a chronic neurological disease and use a wheelchair.

I'm not sure I'd be strong enough for possible treatment

My friend said it could be something else but have Googled and can't find anything. I have no rash on the surface of the skin and the pink area is on the top not underneath ( although it looks a lot worse when I'm warm)

I am 53 years old and in peri menopause. I have two children and the youngest has special needs.

Does it sound like IBC?

Any help is so very much appreciated.

  • Hello Daydreamer99 and welcome to the community.

I'm sorry for the worries this has caused but I hope your appointment with the doctor went well and they were able to put your mind at ease.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello Steph

Thankyou so much for your message.

I feel a bit better today although mixed feelings about my appointment.

I was examined and thankfully the doctor says I look fine.

She believes the pink area on my breast is in fact lots of broken thread veins.

I put on weight recently and I'm also going through the menopause. She feels they are visible because I'm so fair and also the skin has stretched.

She also examined  under my arms and that was ok.

I was obviously pleased about this but she said to come back in a couple of weeks if I still had breast pain.

This has confused me as I was worried about the pain but many sites say that it is probably hormonal given my age.

Now I'm concerned as to what they think it might be.
