Hair loss with Abraxane

Hi 

I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I am on carboplatin and abraxane for ovarian cancer. I was told by my dr my hair wouldnt fall out with Abraxane,I was due to have paclitaxel but I had a reaction to it. Im 2 weeks since receiving abraxane and my hair is coming out. I'm wondering whether it is thinning or if it will all come out. Just a bit if a shock after being told it wouldn't fall out.

    I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some side effects of your treatment at the moment.

    Hair loss is a known side effect of Abraxane and is one of the less common side effects of carboplatin. Understandably, this is really frustrating for you having been told that you wouldn't lose your hair and I can imagine that you're feeling somewhat unprepared to deal with this. 

    We do have some information about hair loss on our website here which may help but I wonder if you'd find it useful to have a chat with one of our team of nurses.
