Worried

My screening in 2019 came back with HPV and I've received the results from Nov 2020 showing HPV & low grade dyskaryosis. An appointment for a colposcopy will follow.

I've avoided googling too much, as I know this will heighten anxiety levels.

Aside from the obvious, my main concern is the procedure itself. I've NEVER had a straightforward smear examination. The last one took over 30 mins, with both the practice nurse & my GP attempting to reach my 'tilted cervix', and an array of different sized speculum being used. This was painful, traumatic and I left the surgery in tears.

Can anyone offer any reassurance around the procedure?

many thanks
