Globus or Cancer?

Hi all

I have been struggling with a funny throat sensation (mostly to the left) since early November - so almost 3 months. Comes and goes - but mostly there. Doesn't hurt when I eat or drink only when I swallow saliva. I have suffered from reflux before and I was overweight. I have now lost all the weight and back to normal (8kg). All through dieting healthily. I am 42 years old. So here's a quick summary:

- I have seen my private GP, a Gastroenterologist and an ENT specialist. They all seem to think it's related to LPR silent reflux.

- Taken lansoprazole and nexium - seen some improvement but not huge.

- Taken 3 different types of antibiotics and a bit of prednisolone - no change

- Have 3 laryngoscopies and 1 gastroscopy - nothing found, except some mild irritation on my epiglotis (consistent with reflux) and both my lingual tonsils are prominent but symmetric.

- Had an MRI of the tongue and neck and a CT scan of the chest - nothing found. MRI confirmed the lingual tonsils are prominent but symmetrical.

- Had an ultrasound and only found some reactive but normal lymph nodes

- All of my blood work is fine (ESR 2, CRP 2.5).

- All swab cultures for infections are clear.

Symptoms are persisting and actually my chin glands seem to hurt for the last week or so. This is very frustrating - I am lucky I have access to all the top private doctors in London but still no answers.

Anybody else had this? Is it globus? Is cancer rulled out with all the tests I had? Is this lockdown stress?

Please help?

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some health concerns over the past few months. From your post, it seems that you've already seen multiple specialists and had extensive tests all of which have revealed no points of concern.

Unfortunately, no one here will be able to give you any further insight into what may be responsible for your sore throat. It sounds as if you are still anxious about things so it would seem sensible to get back in touch with your GP at this point for further advice and support.

    Best wishes,
