What next after chemotherapy for ovarian cancer

I was 65 last June in fact I had my CA125 test on my birthday! Little did I know what would happen next!

I had major surgery in August 2020 to remove a very large ovarian cyst = to a 4 kilo melon, total hysterectomy and appendectomy. I had to wait 3 weeks to find out I had a grade 1C ovarian cancer as a result of (undiagnosed) endometriosis.

I was advised that chemotherapy would be required as a belt and braces as my consultant was very confident all the cancer was removed in my op. I’m approaching my 6th and final chemo on 20 January and quite frankly terrified of what’s next.

The thought of further chemotherapy fills me with dread as it’s been so hard to cope with it.

Im afraid all through this I’ve changed from a very optimistic person to a pessimist. I just can’t move on from this is not going away.

  • Hello Glamnan55,

I'm sorry the prospect of chemotherapy is making you feel this way, but how you're feeling is normal. There are some tips here, which I hope will help you cope with the treatment. There are also ways you can boost your mental health here. It's also important to speak to your medical team about any concerns you have as they will be the best people to address them.

    Best wishes to you,
