Pea sized lump?

Hi, hope everyone is well. I am writing this because I am concerned for my mum. She is 50 and we have just been to the gp about a concern we had about a dent in her breast which she just noticed on Saturday. The gp checked her, and said she found a small pea sized soft movable lump where the dent is. She said she thinks there is nothing to be concerned about as the lump is soft and moveable. However she referred her to the breast clinic. I am trying not to panic however why would she refer her to the clinic if it isn't breast cancer suspected? If anyone knows anything about this please give me some advice, thank you.

  • Hello Is124 and welcome to the forum.

As you'll see here, being referred to the breast clinic is standard procedure in situations like these so try not to panic or think the worse if you can. I know that's much easier said than done but try to be reassured by how thorough your mum's doctor is being.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in similar situations will offer their support and advice to you soon but in the meantime I hope this information about what may happen at the breast clinic will help your mum prepare for her appointment.

    Best wishes to you both,
