Advice needed please/vulvar cancer

Hi sorry for the long post....

I'm 42 and 6 years post menopause (full hysterectomy)

About a year ago I noticed a sore on my Vulvar but it seemed to come and go and every time it flared up a bit I thought it was maybe linked to sex or kinda just put it to the back of my mind. Then 3 weeks ago it flared up pretty bad so I went to the doctors who said it could possibly be LS or even genital psoriasis but they were not sure so referred me to dermatology (still waiting for appoint) over the last 3 weeks I've been back and forwards to doctors even ended up in A&E over Xmas as I've had really bad vulvar pain, itching, burning and my groin lymph nodes have been so painful. Doctors put me on antibiotics incase of infection but I've had 2 lots of antibiotics and it's still the same.
I've been referred to gynaecology oncology but the appointment is not until 15th Jan.

I don't know what to do now as my lymph nodes are so painful, I have pelvic pain, urinating a lot more, vulvar pain and I'm really scared I have cancer.

Any advice of anything I can do whilst I'm waiting for my appointment on the 15th ?
I don't exactly have much money (4 kids and healthcare worker) but I could perhaps have some tests done private ? If it would help ? Ultrasound of my lymph nodes ? Bloods ? MRI ?

I'm just puzzled why my lymph nodes are so sore and painful if I don't have an infection. I'm driving myself crazy worrying.

Would anyone have any advice for me ?

Thanks so much for reading x

  • Welcome to the forum Wraighty45 although I'm sorry to read what you're contending with; it sounds like you've been through a lot.

If the pain is becoming unmanageable do be sure to let your GP know as they should be able to provide you with something to relieve this.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in similar situations will offer their thoughts and advice to you as well but in the meantime I just wanted to let you know we're thinking of you and wish you all the best for the 15th.

    Kind regards,

I got a message today to say my appointment is cancelled. I just don't know what to do now. I rang the hospital and they are only dealing with emergencies. I got referred to the Vulva Clinic (oncology department) from A&E as an urgent.
I have rang my GP and according to the A&E letter they received I have suspected Lichen sclerosus so my GP doesn't think it warrants a 2 week cancer referral.
I'm just so upset and really don't know where to turn.
