Feeling let down - not been told enough about Tamoxifen

Hi,

This is my first post. I was diagnosed with BC in September 2020, mastectomy with reconstruction in October. I feel like I had good support from the Breast Clinic on my surgery but as far as the rest I feel that I have not been given much support at all.
I have read several of the threads on here about Tamoxifen and it's side effects and I can say I have been told none of this. By chance I realised before I started taking it that it's not compatible with one of my existing medications so I'm going to have to go back ASAP and find out what that means as I can't change my other medication. But I feel really let down and frightened that none of this stuff has been explained to me. I'm under huge pressure from my family to take it but the more I read the more frightened I become.
thanks.

  • Welcome to the community Bc_39 although I'm very sorry to read what has happened and how it has left you, understandably, feeling.

Do be sure to let your GP know how this experience has affected you and what you need from them at this time. We have information about Tamoxifen on our website but our cancer nurses are on hand if you want to speak to them about this as well. They are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m so do give them a call if you feel talking things through with them will help.

I know you're scared but as you've seen, there are many members on the forum that have been through this so you're not alone, and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
