Hodgkin Lymphoma

Hi there this is all completely new to me I feel like I've just had my entire world pulled from underneath me. I'm female, 28 years old, married with 2 daughters. I was referred by my GP after noticing a large lump above my collarbone back in mid November. I've been completely well in myself besides this dull achey pain which I assumed was muscular but got it checked anyway. The GP said possible cyst but referred me and I went for an ultrasound. He then explained I would need a fine needle biopsy so they could do further testing. On my notes it says ' the ultrasound demonstrated a cluster of pathological lymph nodes, fine needle aspirate which is suggestive of a hodgkin lymphoma no B symptoms. I went to my clinic appointment accompanied with my husband where the doctor and nurse went into a little more detail but didn't overwhelm us as they still need to do further testing. I am.booked in on the 5th of jan for a second biopsy which they call a core biopsy and I'm still waiting for a date for my PET scan. On the 12th of jan I'm back at clinic with my doctor and nurse to hopefully review the results with a diagnosis and see what stage / grade it is and put my treatment plan in place.

I am just wondering if there's anyone in a similar boat? I don't really know what reply I'm after other than I'm not on my own?

Thank you for reading

  • Hey Rebecca,

Sorry to hear what you are going through. If you are feeling anything like I am at the moment I am sorry that someone else has to go through this.

After a few (what I thought were unrelated) issues I was admitted to the hospital to have blood cultures and an Ultrasound-guided biopsy on a swollen lymph node just above my collar bone on my neck (Supraclavicular).

When I got the results back the Dr said that I had Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma. He didn't go into much detail other than to ask if I had any fever or night sweats and that I am now referred to a Lymphoma MDT meeting to decide what happens newxt.

That was 7 days ago now and I have been living with anxiety ever since and its hell. I have managed to find some relief by doing stuff to take my mind of things but that only helps in parts. I have found myself in bed a lot, I won't say sleeping because its never unbroken sleep as my mind is all over the place. I have also lost my appetite massively, just the thought of a big meal makes me feel bad... not sick, just uncomfortable. its weird it really is.

Ill leave it at the for now, you are not alone in this and i am here if you want to talk. I know its weird talking to someone you don't know about this, but its something we have in common and i find it easier to speak to someone i don't know that i do my wife and family sometimes.

    Wishing you all the best
