Scary times

Hi,

I'm not sure where to start, but here goes...  I have had breast cysts for years and checked myself regularly but, earlier this year something felt a bit different. I was about to make a Dr appointment but we went into lockdown so I (stupidly) never did anything about it, till during an appointment for something unrelated, I mentioned the pains I was having. Within 4 weeks I had an appointment for a mammogram, that same day I spoke with a consultant and also had biopsies taken from 4 sites. On Friday 13th November it was confirmed 1 had grade 2 Breast Cancer, 3 tumors in close proximity and also in my lymph nodes. Everything just happened so fast after that, bone scan, full body CT, ultrasound, blood tests etc... I have had a mastectomy (left breast removed) 8 days ago and am now waiting for the pathology results to determine the next course of action. Thank god we have an amazing NHS xx

    Hi Pearl,

It's no wonder that you have been sore. I'm glad that they managed to get more fluid away this time and hope that you'll feel a lot easier as a result.

Wednesday? - that's not far away now. Are you still having a face-to-face appointment, or a telephone consultation? It is always helpful to draw up a list of any questions you have in advance. That way you are less likely to forget something important.

I have a bone scan on Friday, so will be glad to get that over and done with.

    Fingers crossed for favourable results.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine,

I definitely feel more comfortable now, thankfully. Now I think I can get on with things rather than just being in pain all the time.

Wednesday is a face to face appointment, it was supposed to be over the phone but, after yesterday, my consultant said to go in rather than doing things over the phone, I think it's probably because of how quickly things changed after my last appointment.

Fingers crossed you have a good outcome after your bone scan. Please let me know how you get on.

    Hi Pearl,

I am so glad to hear that you feel better now. There is nothing worse than being in constant pain.

Can you bring someone with you to your appointment tomorrow? They usually allow you to do so when you are going for results.

I shall certainly let you know how things go on Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
